This map above is an ArcGIS map which I have created to display the five major oil spills that have occurred in Alberta. The locations of these oil spills were Little Buffalo,Red Deer River,Elk Point,Slave Lake and Red Earth Creek. To learn more information about each individual oil spill the map provides the location and some facts of the oil spill itself. But the worst of these fives was the one that took place in Little Buffalo, this oil spill has been recorded as the largest one for the province in the past 35 years. This leak and oil spills in general affect our watershed as watersheds are connected and if oil is split in one watershed ,due to them all being linked to one and other impacts of an oil spill in one watershed can also affect other watersheds because oil can not be completely taken out of the water so the water will continue flowing and has a chance of contaminating other bodies of water. Oil spills have an impact on many things, well let's start with the effect they can have on humans. The people cleaning up the oil spill are most at risk but even people around it may begin to experience skin and eye irritation, respiratory damage, liver damage, decreased immunity, breathing problems and much more. Oil spills not only affect us, they have a more negative affect on animals since most oils float, the creatures that are most affected by oil are animals like sea otters and seabirds that are found on the sea surface or on shorelines if the oil comes ashore. During most oil spills, seabirds are harmed and killed in greater numbers than other kinds of creatures. Sea otters can easily be harmed by oil, since their ability to stay warm depends on their fur remaining clean. If oil remains on a beach for a while, other creatures, such as snails, clams, and terrestrial animals may suffer.Oil spilled into most rivers often collects along the banks, where the oil clings to plants and grasses. The animals that ingest these contaminated plants may also be affected.

The giant lantern festival takes place every Saturday before Christmas Eve in the city of San Fernando also known as the “Christmas Capital of the Philippines." This festival attracts many people around the globe to come watch. 11 villages take part in this and try to make the most detailed and beautiful lantern. Originally the lanterns were made out of simple origami paper.Today, the lanterns are made from a variety of materials and have grown to around six meters in size. They are illuminated by electric bulbs that sparkle in a kaleidoscope of patterns.
Before we begin talking about the effects of plastic in water or in other words water pollution what is it? Water pollution is any chemical, physical or biological change in the quality of water that has a harmful effect on any living thing that drinks or uses or lives in it. Some causes are industrial waste, oil spillage, littering , etc. When plastic is released in the oceans it breaks down in small harmful chemicals and this plastic that is broken down into small pieces and is often mistaken as food for sea animals and usually eaten then resulting in death. This is why water pollution is harmful and has many negative effects.
